High Waisted Jeans – Nobody Cult Skinny

I was a little late jumping on the high waisted jeans trend but I finally caved and decided to invest. And now I’ve been in the market for a pair of high waisted skinny jeans for a while.

I ended up buying a pair of Sass & Bide Hulsey Strutters (the new ones, not the ones that Mischa Barton wore in 2007) and it’s the first time I was a bit disappointed with Sass & Bide.

I love Sass & Bide jeans, I really do but the Hulsey Strutters I bought were just a little odd.  Firstly, they weren’t actually high waisted, I would call them more of a mid-rise jean.  This mid-rise style is great for those who aren’t comfortable going the whole nine yards with the high-waisted trend, but for curvy girl (37-26-36) like me, it’s not ideal.

The jeans are cut to fit quite a tapered waist, but since the top of the jeans didn’t actually reach my waist, it just cut into my hips and gave me a muffin top – not hot.

Also, the legs of the jeans almost flared a little.  When I buy a cropped jean I expect the legs to fit tight to my calf, not flare out.

Anyway, I was a bit disillusioned after I bought those.

I knew I didn’t want to buy another pair of Sass & Bide and I didn’t really like the look of the High Waist J Brands.  The jeans of my Swedish kin, Nudie, weren’t quite right and I’m not in a financial position to fork out the for the Rag & Bone jeans I saw on Shopbop.

That’s when I saw a pair of Nobody Cult Skinnys on eBay.  I never really considered buying a pair of these jeans because I hadn’t really heard good things.  Apparently, they lose their shape very quickly.

Well, desperate times call for desperate measures. And since they listed for $40 instead of the RRP of $200 I just decided to buy them.

I’m about two weeks into owning them and I can only say good things about these jeans.  They are high enough that look like a proper high waisted pair of jeans but they aren’t high enough to cut off half of your torso.

They are just the right thickness to keep you warm without preventing you from walking.  And fortunately enough, they have not lost their shape at all, even though I’ve worn them almost every day since they arrived in the post.

If you are in the market for a new pair of high waisted jeans, I cannot recommend Nobody Cult Skinny jeans highly enough.

I’m probably going to get another pair in a different colour.  There are so many to choose from!

 

 

Sass & Bide The Lover Jeans

Waxed and coated denim were all the rage this season and I fell desperately in love with this set by Sass & Bide.  Light weight, skin tight and cut to kill.

These retail for $250 but I managed to get them for $70.00 on ebay! I’ve had these for a few weeks already and I wear them everywhere.  I can honestly say that this is one of best purchases I ever made.

My next goal is a pair of Hulsey Strutters!
